This is a private class that is opening up extra spaces to the public. No previous certification is needed since we will be teaching everything together. This class is being hosted by Scouts BSA Troop 2018. Class will be held at Mayo Kiwanis Club: 1133 Carrs Wharf Rd Edgewater, MD 21037
Wilderness First Aid:
Wilderness environments create special situations not usually encountered in an urban or suburban environment. With an ASHI Wilderness First Aid class, first aid providers in a remote outdoor setting will be better prepared to respond when faced with limited resources, longer times to care for someone, and decisions about when and how fast to evacuate an ill or injured person. This comprehensive 16-hour wilderness first aid course meets or exceeds the Boy Scouts of America Wilderness First Aid Curriculum and Doctrine Guidelines, 2017 Edition.
Course covers the following topics: Preparation and Assessment, Preventing and Caring for Injuries, Environmental Hazards, Other Wilderness Considerations and Medical Emergencies.
ASHI CPR, AED, and Basic First Aid combination training allows an easy option for students seeking a comprehensive training class that builds the confidence to respond. This first aid, AED, and CPR certification course option is an excellent choice for both the community and workplace setting, and conforms to the 2015 AHA Guidelines Update for CPR and ECC, and the 2015 AHA and ARC Guidelines Update for First Aid. Topics will include, choking, medical emrgencies, bleeding control, basic splinting, CPR for adults, children and infants, AED use and more.
This is an ALL day class. Please bring a lunch, we will use a working lunch set up where you will watch a video, or lecture during the time you eat. Please bring your camping gear-our goal is for you to have to solve problems using your own gear, to make this as real life as possible.
